Pakistan is one of the most male dominated societies in the world. Women in Pakistan are still seen as subordinates and often stigmatized. In the Pakistani culture, women are often limited to the household work and taking care of the kids, suppressing their talents, dreams and skills.
However, slowly things are changing. More and more women have been breaking stereotypes and doing things which many women in Pakistan cannot even think of.
Below are 7 Pakistani women who are breaking all the chains and living their lives to the maximum, exploring and giving the best of themselves.
Samina Baig
Samina Baig is the first Pakistani woman to have climbed Mount Everest. She has also been awarded by the Pakistani Government for her bravery. She also runs initiatives to encourage women to take part in outdoor activities. Recently, Samina Baig was appointed as the National Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan by the United Nations Development Programme.
Sana Mir
She is the former Captain of Pakistan National Women cricket team. She won Pakistan two gold medals in 2010 and 2014 and was also first female Pakistani cricketer to be ranked number one in the International Cricket Council bowler rankings. Tahira Safdar
She is the first woman chief justice of any court in the history of Pakistan. She currently serves as the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court. In a male dominated society like Pakistan, subject of law and judiciary profession is seen as reserved for men, but Tahira Safdar has set an inspiring example for the future women generations of Pakistan.
Uzma Nawaz
While many of us think that car repairing is a profession reserved for man, Uzma Nawaz proves us wrong! She is the first female car mechanic in Pakistan and is doing a great job in the field.
Zenith Irfan
She is a daughter who decided to fulfill her father’s dream after his demise. Zenith Irfan is the first female motorcyclist to rode across Pakistan. The journey was intimidating in a country where it can be taboo for women to venture out alone; forget about the bike! She has also been labeled as Pakistan’s boundary breaking motorcycle girl by CNN.
These women have courageously broken through in society very much dominated by men and are finally living the life of their dreams. Each of them are incredibly inspiring and motivating.
