What if I tell you there’s a magic ingredient for good skin, concentration, energy levels, mood? Shocked? Well, let me surprise you a bit more; this magic ingredient is a good sleep! Yet, many of us struggle for a good night’s sleep.
Here are few steps that can help you achieve a perfect night’s sleep.
Focus on a good nutrition.
Nowadays, many of us are addicted to caffeine which is very bad for sleep, but did you know what you eat can also have an effect on your sleep? Some people find it difficult to sleep on a full stomach hence choose not to eat after a certain set time; while others find it difficult to sleep on an empty stomach.
Think about the foods you consume for dinner to help you take that first step towards a perfect night’s sleep. Certain foods can induce sleep. These are: milk, banana, chicken, seeds and plain chocolate. These food items have nutrients which are proven to induce a good sleep.
A good bedroom setup
Your bedroom atmosphere can greatly affect your sleep. Always keep your bedroom clean, peaceful and welcoming. During the day, open windows and curtains and allow sunlight to change the vibes of your bedroom. Invest in a blackout curtain to reduce maximum light during your sleeping time. Ideally a bedroom temperature shouldn’t be too cold or too hot.
Decrease worries and anxieties
Have a vent out journal and let out all your worries and anxieties. You could make it part of your night routine and empty your mind before sleep. Another trick would be to plan your day for tomorrow and write a to-do list, this creates the effect or having the next day sorted out and helps you relax and dive into a peaceful sleep.
Befriend essentials oils.
Certain essential oils such as lavender and chamomile are naturally calming and help you nod off. You can incorporate them into your evening bath or add them into an evening routine by using a diffuser and sit back relaxing while reading few pages from your favorite book. There are also sleeping sprays available on the market, which you can spray in corners of your room or on your pillow to help you go into your dreamland.
Disconnect
We are all guilty of scrolling through social media while trying to get some sleep. Do you know that your mobile phones and screens emit blue light rays which can interfere with the quality of your sleep? The ideal solution would be to switch off your phone before sleeping, however in this technology dependent era we know how much do we rely on our phones for alarms, and other facilities. A hack would be to switch on your blue light filter on your phone, nowadays most phones have this feature. This will block the blue light features to reach your eyes.
We hope you can find your beauty sleep after following these steps. Find out more ways of how to calm the mind here.
