Reasons you should have a cat

Two years ago, i was a hundred percent dog person, who used to be scared of cats. Today, I can’t imagine a single day without my daughter-Sasha- a white Persian cat of almost 2 years old.

Sasha came into our lives very unexpectedly. While me and my boyfriend were planning to keep a pet, cat wasn’t our first choice; however, it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

I remember the day we bought her home. We were actually accompanying a friend to visit kittens which he was planning to take. I was sitting, when suddenly a little fur baby came to my feet and smelt around. While i was scared to hold her, her cuteness won me over. I took her in my arms, and was amazed by her the softness of her white furs and her sparkling blue and brown eyes. At that very moment, i decided am taking her. We discussed and agreed to bring her home.

Her first night at our place was memorable. Since we had no idea we were coming back with a furball, we had no litter box and no other arrangements made for her and as it was almost midnight, all the stores were closed. She spent the first night in a small carton box which we made cosy by adding some warm blankets.

The next day, we got her a proper litter box, food and water bowls. She has always been an overactive ball of energy always running around and climbing on almost everything she can. From her first meow and her first purr, everything was magical and special to us.

Below are some reasons, from my own personal experience why should you own a cat.

  1. They are easily potty trained!
Yes, you just have to show them the litter box and use their paws to dig through the litter once, and it’s enough. Your kitty will know what she needs to use the litter box for her bathroom needs.

  2. They make great alarm clocks
Your cat will always be here to remind you its time to get up on lazy days. They will in-fact remind you it’s time for their breakfast, and trust me waking up to their cute kneading actions or soft purrs is one of the best experience ever.

  3. They are independent
Provide them with their food, fresh water, a lot of toys and some affection and they are happy. Cats are self sufficient and manage to be alone while you are at work. They require less work from you compared to other pets. While some cats would love a walk out, they do not necessarily need it and some even dislike it.

  4. They bath themselves
Cats do not need bathing. They are meticulous about cleaning themselves and sometimes cleaning you too. However, long fur cat may require daily brushing to prevent debris and hair swallow during grooming. Cats may spend much time a day cleaning themselves specially after their meals.

  5. Cats help to reduce stress
Petting a cat released endorphins which makes you happier. Cat owners can enjoy a gentle pat or stroke through their furry friend’s softest furs. Some quality time with your cat will help you reduce stress and anxiety

  6. They are playful and will always keep you entertained
Cats love to play. Take out a fishing pole or a laser light, your cat will keep you entertained for hours while enjoying herself. Sasha loves the playing hide and seek under the blanket. Cats are also very acrobatic climbing on scratching poles or window frames.

  7. You will never be alone anymore!
Be it on the couch, on the bed, while working or studying or even in the washroom. You will be getting company almost anywhere and in anything you do. Sasha is always by my side, even late nights. When am studying till late, she will find herself a small space on the study table and make herself comfortable till the time i go to bed, where she follows me and gets comfortable on bed.
