How can you kill laziness today?

Laziness is all natural and part of life and at the same time it is a difficult rut to get out of and has the potential to consume us.

I personally go through times where laziness causes me to feel trapped. No matter how hard I try to shake it off, I fell constantly tired and sleepy. I feel unable to be active and productive and I fail to accomplish things I plan to.

The good news is that laziness can be overcome and you can achieve productivity again. By following the five tips below, you can easily kill laziness today!

  1. Think Positively
Negative thoughts are easily piled up in the mind. Self doubt is something that often consumes people who are lazy. Remove these negative thoughts and kill the poor self image of yourself that you have created in your mind. Remind yourself that you can change your life anytime, then why not now?
Along with laziness, you have most probably developed a bat habit called as procrastination. You tend to procrastinate things every now and then because you doubt yourself. Stop thinking, things won’t get done until you take actions. And you can take actions only when you are thinking positively. It’s a cycle that goes on and repeats s itself. Reinforce the idea that you are capable and competent; this will raise your self esteem and eventually all your self doubts will fade away and you will enter a cycle of positivity.

  2. Organize your day
Organizing your day the night before or during the early morning is an efficient way to kill laziness. You may use a planner or an electronic calendar and break down your day into hours to have a better understanding of your daily activities. Include your appointments, tasks, phone calls, errands and even daily activities so that you have all planned. Being well organized also motivates you.

  3. Remove Distractions

Most of the time, distractions are what contribute to your laziness. Take your time and notice what are the passive activities that take up your time; television, social media, internet, mobile phone; be honest with yourself and notice it. For most people its several hours a day; you can get rid of the laziness caused by these distractions by limiting them. Try them as a reward after completing a specific task.

Also look for reasons that could disrupt an encouraging atmosphere for you. You could always be trying to please your husband, family, kids and pets and end up not having time for yourself. Well in that case, take your time and create a small space for you in your house. Make it a peaceful area where you can be with yourself, this will also motivate you, and make you want to be productive and not feel as if you have to work, you will start liking what you do.

  4. Break up large tasks
You can actually trick your mind into thinking you are more successful than you actually are! Try breaking large tasks down into smaller ones. After organizing your day, take up the large tasks and break it down, this could be the most mundane task in you day, but that doesn’t matter. As you realize how many tasks you have accomplished since morning, considering even the little ones, you will want to do more of it, this will motivate you and increase your productivity by killing laziness!

  5. Give yourself deadlines
You can include this step while planning your day. If you have the bad habit of procrastinating thing until the last moment, try this out. Give yourself a deadline, challenge yourself and decided what to reward yourself if you complete the challenge. Arrange your tasks according to the priority and plan accordingly. To start with you can give yourself a two hour window to finish a task, this will sometimes result into getting a task done well before planned time If you can take up this habit, you will eventually get rid of procrastination or maybe you can start procrastinating until the due date you have set up rather than the actual due date of the tasks; and as a result you will achieve your goals on time which will in turn motivate you to do much more!
